The job interview process for a new developer can be an emotional and time-consuming one, especially in a world where private life and work life are merging. Feelings of hope and excitement can be mixed with anxiety, frustration, and overwhelm. However, if you know what to expect during your job search, your nerves can settle. Understanding recruiting

After reviewing your application, companies will typically have a three-step interview process for technical roles, which may include a phone call with the recruiter, a technical test and an on-site interview. Nowadays, however, it is possible for companies to create a remote interview experience that is similar to an in-person one. The best way to prepare for phone and video interviews is to practise by simulating the scenario; for example, you could have a conversation with a friend.

It is important to note that most recruiters and HR managers may also be flooded with messages. After being reviewed by a recruiter, your profile must also be reviewed by the department throughout the process. Since this is a team effort that requires careful review by the hiring team, it also takes time. So don't be discouraged by receiving automated messages or responses. Dealing with a high volume of candidates also requires understanding and empathy from your side.

Stay calm after the interview

Being proactive during an interview is a great way to impress the hiring team. It is to your advantage to write a short email within 24 hours of the end of the interview, thanking the interviewer for their time. This will keep you fresh in their minds, and also allow you to express your interest in the position again.

If you do not receive a response to this, please remain calm - there can be various reasons. You can inquire about the status of the application process in a polite email only after a few days have passed without receiving a response.
